RIVERVIEW PARK

Riverview, CA

Status: Completed 2014

The Riverview restroom is part of a new neighborhood park along the Guadalupe River in San Jose, on a site that has long been used as an office park and parking lot. Stone, steel, and wood create a language in the project that references the materiality of the adjacent River Oaks Parkway Bridge and site retaining walls. Serving as a visual anchor for the southern entrance to the park, the restroom reaches out toward the street to respond to its siting. Light and natural ventilation are provided by lifting the thin roof into the air, supported by a delicate system of trusses and beams.
